Concrete Slabs and Pads in Metro Atlanta
A concrete slab is a flat, reinforced pad poured on a prepared base to support a building, equipment or a work surface. When the base is compacted and the slab is formed level, it keeps a shed square, a hot tub stable and a garage floor flat for decades. JMJ Construction Group pours concrete slabs and pads across metro Atlanta, from a small pad for an HVAC unit to a full slab for a detached garage or workshop.
We match the size, thickness and reinforcement to what will sit on the slab, and we set its height and slope so water drains away. If the slab is for a building, we can build that too, including garages and home additions. For other concrete projects, see our concrete contractor services.

A new home built from the ground up, starting with concrete footings and foundation work, then framing, siding, windows, hardwood floors and a back porch.
What It Costs to Pour a Concrete Pad
The cost of a concrete slab comes from a few things you can see on the estimate.
- The slab's length and width, which set the concrete and labor
- Thickness, since a garage or hot tub pad needs more than a small equipment pad
- Site prep, including clearing, leveling a slope and hauling out soil
- Reinforcement, vapor barrier and anchor bolts for slabs under buildings
- Access, because a pad far from the street may need a pump or extra labor
Concrete Slab Contractor for Metro Atlanta Projects
JMJ Construction Group works from Marietta and pours slabs for garages, additions, sheds and new homes. A slab is only as good as what's under it, so we start with grading, compacted gravel, vapor barrier and reinforcement sized to the load.
We pour slabs for projects in Acworth, Tucker and Cumming, along with the rest of the metro.
Concrete Slab Questions, Answered
How much does it cost to pour a concrete slab?
It depends on the size and thickness, how much prep the site needs and whether the slab needs extras like a vapor barrier or anchor bolts. A small equipment pad and a full garage slab are very different jobs. We measure the area and give you a free, itemized estimate.
How thick should a concrete slab be?
It depends on what the slab will hold. Sheds, walkways and small pads are often around four inches thick, while garage floors and pads for heavy loads like a hot tub may need more, along with reinforcement. For a hot tub, the manufacturer's installation guide sets the minimum. We'll specify the thickness for your project.
How long before I can build on a new slab?
You can usually walk on it after a day or two. Framing a shed or setting equipment often waits about a week, and concrete keeps gaining strength for about a month. We'll tell you when it's ready based on the weather during the pour.
Do I need a permit for a concrete slab?
A simple pad may not, but a slab for a garage or other building usually goes with a building permit for the structure. Rules vary by city and county. We check the requirements for your address and pull the permit when one is needed.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. JMJ Construction Group holds Georgia GC license GCI000260 and carries liability coverage through Next Insurance, with proof available before work begins.
Do you offer free estimates?
Always. We'll look at the site, talk through what the slab needs to support and provide a detailed written estimate at no cost and no obligation.
